“Mortified” Pelosi explains she shredded Trump address after mistaking it for Constitution

Viewers were shocked when Nancy Pelosi, the normally dignified Speaker of the House, inexplicably tore up her copy of President Donald Trump’s State of the Union (SOTU) address after his speech had concluded.  Reporters immediately took to their news outlets to decry her behavior, but a distraught Pelosi hastened to apologize profusely for what she clarified was an honest mistake.

“I had a copy of the Constitution right next to my State of the Union packet,” an embarrassed Pelosi explained. “Of course I always shred any print of the Constitution before it can get into the wrong hands and influence voters. But I was so overcome by President Trump’s egregiously positive speech about veterans and cancer victims and stuff, I inadvertently grabbed the wrong papers.”

Despite the fact that the move was clearly an oversight, Pelosi was placed in timeout and grounded from arts and crafts time, per House rules. She has also been ordered to write “I will not throw tantrums during the State of the Union address” on the blackboard 100 times, after which she will be given back all playground and free time privileges.
